Cedric HORDERN

HORDERN

Cedric Hordern was born on 1 June 1890 in Hawthorn, Victoria. His parents were William and Harriet (née Bull) Hordern. He attended Scotch from 1906 to 1907.

Cedric was a medical practitioner when he enlisted in 1914 in England. He served in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, HMS Kale with the rank of Surgeon Probationer.

Cedric died on 21 June 1915 at Perth, Scotland. He was 25 years of age.

Service record

According to The Scotch Collegian, Cedric Hordern enlisted at the outbreak of war, and was on duty on a torpedo-boat destroyer, HMS Kale, in the North Sea until May 1915. He was then transferred to work at a hospital in Perth, Scotland. After six weeks’ work there he contracted double pneumonia and died just two days later.

Cedric Hordern is buried in the Edinburgh (Warriston) Cemetery.
